Successful leaders retain teams not by accident, they calculate an additional advantage over competitors, and later find themselves enriched by the surrounding troops and allies they so wholeheartedly built. Think big picture while you read this storyline.
"Two colleagues decide they will work as a team, for the company, for their clients, the big picture. Each giving, selflessly to ensure eachothers success, believing that as they continue to work for eachother, others will follow, and it will repeat itself. As they continue building, they realize it's time, for a third to pitch in. The first two discover that their tasks have become simplified, as the addition to the team has started mirroring their efforts. Each hungry to prove their worth, they continue to contribute wholeheartedly to this unstoppable force, they've all, so humbly created. After sometime, the confidence existing within the three pushed for an additional three, totalling six, and after sometime the six became twelve. Creating clearly what their competitors would've called, luck."
This perfect storm was created continuously in growth mode, not by accident, not by luck, but perhaps, retention.
